HETTICH RECIEVES 2018 AWARD FOR INNOVATION

The medical technology company HETTICH has been named one most innovative companies in the German state of Baden-Württemberg.

HETTICH has been recognized as part of the award ceremony for this year's Landes-Innovationspreis. The award was presented by Baden-Württemberg Minister of Economic Affairs Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut (CDU) at a ceremony in Stuttgart.

HETTICH was honored for the creation of the ZentriMix 380 R dual centrifuge, as well as for the development of new fields of application in laboratories.  From the award statement: "... this versatile laboratory instrument can be used particularly in the production of nanoparticles in the medical and technical field, as well as mixing difficult components and for extraction in analytical sample preparation. The sample vessels are additionally rotated about their own axis during the centrifugation, whereby the direction of the strong centrifugal acceleration in the sample vessel changes very rapidly. This process is similar to a shaking process, however, the achievable accelerations of the sample material are up to 100 times stronger than previously known laboratory shakers. This will enable new applications in drug manufacturing, food control or biomedical research. "

Every year, the state of Baden-Württemberg honors medium-sized companies for their outstanding developments and applications of new technologies. This year, 94 companies had applied while only the 10 most innovative were honored. "Innovation is the key to the country's economic prosperity and prosperity. But innovation is not a matter of course. Successful innovation requires ideas that are fully committed to action - with all the risks involved,’’ said Minister Hoffmeister-Kraut.
