The maximum speed of small centrifuges ranges from about 4,000 to 6,000 revolutions per minute (RPM). The faster S-class models can rotate at speeds of up to 8,000 RPM and deliver results in 3 minutes or less. What are small centrifuges used for? Small centrifuges use centrifugal force to separate components in a sample on the basis of their density. These are commonly used in laboratories to separate samples such as blood and urine. The separated components are then further analyzed in order to provide useful information for diagnostic or research purposes. When do I need an angle rotor with decanting function? The angle rotor 1133 of the EBA 280 can be used with decanting aid for washing cells. "Washing" in this regard means centrifugation of a cell suspension (such as blood). The supernatant is removed and replaced by another liquid. This is then centrifuged again, the supernatant is removed again and replaced with the new liquid. This procedure is usually repeated three times. The purpose of this procedure is to remove the original liquid, as this could distort the analysis. You can use the rotor to empty (decant) all test tubes via the top of the tube and do not have to pipette them individually. The haematocrit value is used to determine the volume percentage of erythrocytes in the blood. Is it possible to place a hematocrit rotor in a centrifuge other than the HAEMATOKRIT 200? Microliter centrifuges are designed for processing very small samples at very high speeds. This is usually used for kits for isolating DNA and RNA. These steps are necessary in order to analyze the DNA and RNA or process them further for polymerase chain reaction (PCR). How does Hettich certify the biocontainment of its lids? Sealing certificates are available directly from us for all biocontainment rotors. The seal is tested and certified by an external institute (TÜV in Germany, for example) in accordance with the laboratory equipment standard EN 61010-2-020. What is the angle rotor for spin column kits used for? For some PCR protocols, filtration is prescribed where filter sleeves are centrifuged in 2-ml test tubes. The sample liquid that passes through the filter during the filtering/centrifuging procedure is collected in the 2-ml test tubes. A common problem frequently encountered is the fact that the caps of the test tubes no longer fit because of the filters, so the test tubes have to remain open during centrifugation. The caps are often tear off in such cases, or alternatively are cut off before centrifugation. To avoid this and prevent the caps having to be cut off before centrifugation, the angle rotor for spin column kits has been designed so that the caps can be securely positioned in place. Each claim is processed as listed: Submit the Nonconformity Report form to your direct customer service representative at Hettich. You can do that by sending us an e-mail with the attached report. Your Hettich representative or a local authorized distributor will contact you to verify if all details have been submitted to resolve your case. Depending on the failure, a Hettich representative or authorized local distributor will inform you whether a service technician will visit you on site or if the unit has to be returned to a repair facility. In case the unit has to be returned, you will be requested to fill out an additional form in regards to safety aspects and potential contamination. In some cases you will be given a return authorization number (RMA) which must be visible on the box you return, the unit and all enclosed documents. After receiving your unit, Hettich or the local distributor will execute the repair and try to return the unit within a week. This return time may also depend on the availability of the particular spare part required in your case.
