Hettich benchtop centrifuges stand out for their versatility . Equipped with a wide range of accessories, they can handle nearly all standard applications. They are commonly used in clinical laboratories, food labs, and agricultural settings . What sets them apart from small centrifuges are their larger capacity , the option to cool or heat samples , and their higher speeds , making them suitable for more demanding laboratory tasks. Why do I need a refrigerated centrifuge? During centrifugation, the rotor chamber heats up due to air friction and motor-generated heat . The longer or faster the run, the higher the temperature. Standard laboratory centrifuges have an air cooling system to remove some of this heat. However, many samples are thermally sensitive and must be processed within a specific temperature range. Refrigerated centrifuges with a coolant circuit and controlled cooling unit maintain these temperatures. Depending on the device, the preferred centrifugation temperature can be set anywhere between -20°C and +40°C , ensuring sample integrity. Why do I need an actively heated centrifuge? The actively heated centrifuge heats up quickly from room temperature to 90°C. Which centrifuges can cyto systems be integrated into? Hettich offers three different cytodiagnostic systems. The radius (r) is the distance between the rotor axis and the bottom of the centrifuge tube, measured in millimeters. The rotor radius is also known as the centrifuge radius, centrifuging radius or rotation radius and is essential for precise calculation of RCF or RPM.
